Learning About Greek Life
During the fall semester, potential new members (PNMs) will have the opportunity to meet in groups to learn about recruitment and will also have the opportunity to attend sorority-hosted events and sorority interest sessions (SIS) throughout the semester to talk with members. The first of these events will be an informal meeting with Panhellenic and sorority leaders, and subsequent meetings will provide answers to any questions about recruitment and Greek Life at the University of Richmond.
SIS Event #1: Tuesday, Sept. 9, 2014, 6 or 7 p.m.
SIS Event #2: Thursday, Oct. 30, 2014, 5:30–6:30 p.m. or 6:30–7:30 p.m.
SIS Event #3: Sunday, Nov. 16, 2014, noon
SIS Event #4: Tuesday, Nov. 18, 2014, 5–6 p.m. or 8–9 p.m.
All women must earn at least a 2.70 GPA in the fall semester to be eligible to participate in formal recruitment. Sophomores must have a cummulative and most recent semester GPA of 2.70 as well in order to participate. All GPA records are only those officially accepted by the University Registrar’s Office, no submission is required. Any questions should be directed to Alison Keller.
Go Greek Night — Jeans and the T-shirt provided for you as a part of the registration fee
Philanthropy Night — Casual top and bottoms (something you would wear to class)
Sisterhood Night — Business Casual Attire
Preference Night — Cocktail Attire (a nice dress that you will feel comfortable in)
You will be sitting on the floor during part of these events, so please consider appropriate length of your attire. Women do not need to purchase new clothes for these events, just wear what is already in your closet.
The AVERAGE dues for New Members are $668.20 (One time payment that includes initiation fees). This amount is due prior to sorority initiation which will fall during the week of February 15, 2014. After this, dues will fall to an AVERAGE of $354.46 for Active Members. The Panhellenic Council at the University of Richmond offers new member scholarships to those who apply. Many sororities offer scholarships through their national offices that women can apply for. Finally, many sororities offer payment plans for their members. Upon receiving a bid, New Members must pay a mandatory, one time programming fee of $40. This will cover the educational programming for the next 4 years.
